Macy's is a department store chain founded in 1858 by Rowland Hussey Macy. They are one of the largest fashion retailers and department stores and operates about 775 stores across some 45 US states and Washington, DC, as well as Guam and Puerto Rico. Macy's sells men's, women's, and children's apparel and accessories, cosmetics, and home furnishings, among other merchandise.
Always the innovator, Macy's is known for several firsts that changed the retail industry. Macy's pioneered such revolutionary business practices as the one-price system, in which the same item was sold to every customer at one price and quoting specific prices for goods in newspaper advertising.
